Stamp out Hunger - Mail Carrier's Food Drive - May 12th

May 12th marks the 20th anniversary of the National Rural Letter Carrier’s Stamp Out Hunger food drive. Each year, the second Saturday of May is dedicated to giving all citizens an opportunity, with the help of their letter carrier, to easily donate food to needy families in their community. Locally, the donated food is delivered to Interfaith’s warehouse on May 12, where it is shared with all of Marion County’s food banks. Thomas Curtis, Warehouse Manager stated, “We’re getting organized in order to store as much food as possible so it can be distributed within the remaining weeks of May.”
Volunteers are needed.  To find out more information, read the complete article here.

If you have any questions about the food drive, please contact Thomas at our Warehouse at 622-4204.Bag of Groceries

Fifth Annual Frank Polack Memorial Ride - May 20th

Hospice of Marion CountyPosted in support of Hospice of Marion County:

The FIFTH ANNUAL FRANK POLACK MEMORIAL RIDE FOR HOSPICE OF MARION COUNTY takes place on Sunday May 20, 2012 at 8:00am. The anticipated 250 participants will enjoy a trip to the Heart of Horse Farm Country, starting and ending at Hospice of Marion County’s Education Center. Riders pay $40 to enjoy a fully staffed and SAG’D 80 mile route, 62 mile route, or 30 a mile route. Registration fees include a light breakfast, a busting at the seams event gear bag, and lunch. On line registration is provided at Hospiceofmarion.com, Active.com, by mail, or riders may register the morning of the event.

New this year, we are requesting our riders and sponsors to participate in a food drive for the benefit of Interfaith Emergency Services. This worthy organization needs help filling their pantries in the slower months of the summer. All riders will be asked to bring a small bag of non perishable food in addition to their registration fee. With the help of the approximately 250 riders, volunteers, and our sponsors, we hope to add hundreds of pounds of food to the Interfaith pantry. If you are unable to bring food items, you are requested to add $5 to your registration fee and we will purchase food items to be donated to Interfaith Emergency Services.
